Early Childhood Services

Eloïse van Doorn

In June 2004, thanks to the help of the CLSC and the Early Childhood Board, SERY was able to develop a new service oriented toward young families with children from 0 to 5 years old.

Our commitment: to make resources known, to accompany, enroll, translate, and simply stated, to facilitate as much as possible our clientele's use of available professional or community resources.

Services Offered:

In accordance with SERY's Mission, which is to assist immigrants in integrating themselves to life in Canada and Granby as easily and rapidly as possible, we ease their adjustment by accompanying them in the use of professional services. Immigrants may take advantage of these services for vaccinations at the CLSC, home nursing visits for expecting mothers, psycho-social help, Hospital visits, Social Assistance, legal aid, and private medical clinics.

In keeping with this pursuit, we also assist young parents in using the community services that will most help them during their social integration. Specifically, this refers to childcare services through CPE's, la Maison des Familles, community kitchens, the women's hostel La Maison d'H&eacutebergement pour Elles, Men's Resources, the woman's hostel Entr'elles, SOS D&eacutepannage, The Tenants' Association, etc.

We also offer special home visits for young immigrant families experiencing some difficulty in using the existing services mentioned above.

We offer a listening ear to all regarding the many difficulties they may encounter during the immigration process. When necessary, we may also refer them to appropriate aid resources.
